Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros guitarist Christian Letts’ debut solo album, Hold Fast, was released today. The folk-rock album was recorded with and produced by Marcus Mumford, who Letts met during the six-city Railroad Revival Tour in 2011. It was the first record Mumford has produced for another artist.

BT_letts_transparent250x330“We got all our schedules lined up to make it happen, flew to the U.K. and spent two Januaries laying it all down,” Letts told Rolling Stone Magazine. “We were surrounded by some of the most beautiful souls I have ever known. The most scenic and inspiring countryside, better than I could ever paint or imagine. A huge sense of love and trust.”

“It was kind of a curveball,” Mumford added. “But it wasn’t as different as I thought it was going to be because we’re always involved in the production of our records. It just felt like being in the studio with your friends – which we do all the time.”

The album was released via Community Music/Vagrant Records and features 10 songs, including his first three singles, Charles de Gaulle, Emeralds and Matches.

Letts, born in London, also painted the album art himself.
